CHANDIGARH: The arguments in the Katia kidnapping and molestation case, once again remained inconclusive in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, last week, as the Additional Solicitor General, K.T:S. Tulsi, appearing on behalf of the prosecution, showed his inability to complete the same even’ till the proposed extended sitting of the bench. Arguing the case, Lakhanpal con~ tended that the conduct of the Punjab Police was not above suspicion as it was directly under the control of Beant Singh, the executive head of the state. This left treasonable doubts in public mind about the fairness of the investigations as one of the accused was the grandson of the Chief Minister.
Dwelling on the conduct of the judicial magistrate, Kharar, who ‘went to Seonk forest rest house to “appear before the accused to extend their judicial remand,” the counsel said that under the given circumstances the hostile prosecution could mark the fairness of the trial.
