MADRAS(PTI): Hindu Brahmins from Kashmir, who fled the valley following violence against them, have alleged that all major political parties in the country have failed to protect their interests and demanded an exclusive zone for themselves in their homeland.

“Panun Kashmir” (our Kashmir), an organization for the Kashmiri pandits has said large scale exodus of Hindus from Kashmir valley especially in 1989, was a “national failure” and the problem posed by Islamic fundamentalists could not be tackled by curbing terrorism alone.

“Over seven hundred thousand Kashmir Hindus living all over the world should be settled in Kashmir. Their “home land,” north cast of river Jelum and this area could be put under federal administration as a union territory, Dr.Ajay Chrungoo, official spokesman of the organization, told reporters here late

July 1.

Dr,Chrungoo said granting a “home land” for the Kashmiri Hindus would go a tong way in incapacitating the secessionists and would also guarantee the Hindus, their right to life, liberty, freedom of expression and faith, equality and rule of law in the country’s: only Muslim majority state.

The acts of subversion by the secessionists with the help: of ISL of Pakistan should not be treated as isolated events confined to Kashmira lone, he said adding they had their ramifications in other parts of the country which had witnessed bomb blasts recently.

Asked if the Kashmin Hindus could seek the cooperation of secular elements among Muslims to protect their rights, he said there were such elements but unfortunately they had been discouraged and humiliated by successive governments.
