JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Governor, Gen K.V.Krishna Rao (Rid) said here Dec. 19 that he was confident of normal life being restored in the State in six months’ time, “The people of the State particularly those in the Kashmir valley,” have started extending their full cooperation to the security forces and the administrate in the efforts to combat militancy,” Gen. Rao said restoration of nor malty would be followed by revival of democracy. Lack of it created most of the problems: which the people of the State were: facing now, the magnitude of militancy had increased after the exit of the people’s last representative government in 1990 but now it had been contained to a large extent.
‘The Governor said the Hazratbal deadlock was resolved on the basis of conditions which were laid on the first day of the siege. The Government would not compromise on the security of such a holy shrine especially after the Shane management failing to prevent the entry of armed militants. The Governor said it was the role » of political leaders to explain to the people what was good or bad for them. The people of the valley needed amidst them such leaders. Regretfully not many policies: responded to his invitation to Stay out in the Valley, He hoped they would visit Kashmir now, stay” with their people and help solve problems, / He thanked the people for keeping peace in many areas despite provocations by some elements.
