JALANDHAR: The Indian govt, is quite weary of the propaganda machinery of the Kashmir liberation groups who have the complete support of the local population. The Director General, Border security Forces, Prakash Singh said it was unfortunate that the government media was ineffective and no one willing to believe it.
Speaking to newsmen, here on Sept.23, the Director General said that the situation in the valley was still grim and serious. He said, in Srinagar, which was exclusively under the charge of BSF, the jawans and officials were fighting a battle against the dreaded militants with one hand tied to their back.
The security forces were facing two major problems, throwing of grenades, quite often by children and use of improvised explosive devices (TED). He said in grenade attacks several BSF jawan had injured and some even lost their limbs.
Stating that infiltration of foreign nationals into the cadres of Kashmir militants had added a new dimension into the problem. He, however, claimed that the militants in the valley were under tremendous pressure from the security forces, He revealed that the BSF has liquidated over 220 militants and apprehended about 1028 during the first eight and half months of this year.
Referring to the allegations of human rights violation by the human rights organizations, the BSP chief said that these organizations became a handle by secessionist forces to beat the security forces. These organizations by their hue and cry were demoralizing the security forces and on the other hand helping militants; he observed. Denying the allegations he said that strict instructions had been given to the forces to act within the framework of law.
