ISLAMABAD; Prime Minister, Mohammad Khan Junejo has dispelled all doubts that the Kashmir issue has been put in the cold storage, saying that Pakistan cannot afford to set aside such a Vital issue and the present Government will continue to seek a political solution to it in the light of United Nations resolutions and the Shimla Agreement,
The Prime Minister was speaking at a dinner hosted in dishonor by Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan at a hotel here today.
The Prime Minister said he had no ambiguity in his mind about the Kashmir issue, adding his government would never deviate from its principled stand on it and would consistently continue to explore all avenues for finding a peaceful solution to it.
About the Pakistan-India relations, the Premier regretted that since the very inception of independence an exemplary pattern has not been evolved.
About the burning issue of Afghanistan, Mr., Junejo said a Superpower had heaped a host of problems upon Pakistan. However, he said, intensive efforts were afoot to find a political solution of the problem and hoped that with an Overwhelming support of world nations something positive would crop up. Yet he clarified it was not an easy task.
Talking about the internal situation, the Prime Minister said that both the elected representative and the political parties outside Parliament should make joint efforts to step up the process of democratization which was, indeed the cherished goal of the two.
Mr. Junejo observed that he could not reflect on the patriotism of anybody but he said if somebody obstructed the way of democracy, none could say that he was the well-wisher of the nation, democracy and the motherland The Prime Minister said he did not believe in hurling charges on others just to retain power. He thought prospering democracy would be beneficial to all, irrespective of Political views and affiliations.
