JAMMU: Former Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah arrived here last week amid speculation that both the National Conference and the Congress leaders were being involved in assisting the government in initiating the much-needed political process.
As Dr. Farooq landed at the Jammu airport not many of his colleagues and party workers were present.
Soon after his arrival Dr. Abdullah had discussions with some of his party leaders including his younger brother Dr. Mustafa Kamal who is being tipped for the post of Adviser to the Governor These discussions were followed by a meeting of party workers and leaders where several former ministers were present.
Party leaders gave an account of the Latest situation in the state and some of them were critical of the role of the State administration which had increased peoples alienation in the valley Dr Farooq Abdullah urged party men to remain united and not to overreact over certain lapses on the part of the Center and the state administration.
Reports said that Dr. Farooq was to meet the Governor to work out a schedule for securing involving of politicians of the national main-stream in renewing links with the people According to these reports the Center and the state Congress leadership had pinned their hopes on Dr Abdullah who is still considered a force to reckon with despite the fact that militants Continue to beat him irrelevant in the present situation.
The National Conference residents is expected to have a detailed discussion with Central leaders including the Prime Minister and the Minister of State for Internal Security
