KARACHI, Nov 23, Reuter: Four buses were set ablaze in Karachi today by members of the Mohajir ethnic group protesting against the detention of their leader by Pakistani authorities, police said.
‘Witnesses said police fired teargas to break up rival groups of Pathans from northwest frontier province and Mohajir immigrants from India who fought with stones in the Landhi industrial area.
Police said the buses were set ablaze in the same area by Mohajir protesters demanding the release of Altaf Hussain.
Hussain was arrested early this month when at least 58 people died in clashes between the two communities in the Sind provincial capital, Karachi, and Hyderabad, 175 km (110 miles) to the east.
‘The Mohajirs are campaigning against what they consider discrimination in jobs and education.
