A SGPC spokesman said that a meeting of the executive committee, which is to be held at Jina in Haryana on June 30, will discuss the entire issue and may urge the acting jathedar of the Akal Takht, Prof, Manjit Singh to take necessary action in this regard.

It may be recalled, that last week, Gill had launched the kar seva of the sacred “sarivar” attached the Gurdwara Baoli Sahib.

The spokesman said that the way mahant Manit Singh organized the ceremony, without installing Sri Guru Granth Sahib in the diwan and without performing “ardas,” was in total violation of the Sikh maryada.

He said that the SGPC president, Gurcharan Singh Tohra, was briefed on the matter phoned.

Meanwhile, various Sikh organizations, including the Sikh Students Federation (Mehta), have strongly condemned the incident.
