LUDHIANA, Punjab, India: S. Kapur Singh, a former speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha after independence died here on March 3, 1988. He had turned 100 years old on February 12, 1988.
Kapur Singh was in excellent health till his last day. A law graduate from Government College, Lahore (now in Pakistan), he went to jail for number of times during the independence movement. He was first elected to Punjab Assembly in 1936 and was elected as secretary of Punjab Congress legislature party. He remained as Chairman of “Punjab Legislative Council from 1952 to 1965”,
