CHANDIGARH: The Indian government through the Beant Singh administration has clipped the wings of Punjab’s high-profile director-general of police K-P.S. Gill. In are shuffling of the work relating to the police department the director-general has been relegated while all important functions have been given to Lt.General J.K.Puri Adviser Security. General Puri will report to the chief minister on the law and order situation as well ‘as in regard to coordination with the army.

There were increasing complaints against Gill’s attitude towards the chief minister as well as his ministerial colleagues. The police chief even defied the protocol and insisted cabinet ministers to meet him at his sector 2 high security houses it is alleged.

Recently according to a report Gill ensured that a woman Punjab cabinet minister Bhathal waited for some time in a waiting room before she was ushered into the director-general’s office.
