SRINAGAR: “Unless we are supplied lakhs of rounds of ammunition, thousands of grenades hundreds of missiles rockets immediately by Pakistan our *Jehad” will go the Punjab Way by December,” writes Salaudin, the “supreme commander” of the largest militants outfit of Kashmir Hizbul Mujahideen.

 Sayed Saludin’s handwritten Letter signed as “SD” and addressed ‘his deputy, Majid Dar, based in cabin, Was recovered among other incriminating things from the residence of Ahadullah Qazi,a topranking  Jamaat e Islami leader ‘By the Amy recently. Qazi, a number of the executive council of the All Parties Huriyat conference. Is alleged to be the kingpin ‘of an over ground apparatus of the ISI, responsible for organizing militancy in the valley.

In a series of raids at the residences of Srinagar based Jamaat e Islami leaders and business establishments belonging to their relatives, the Amy and BSF personnel have recovered computer floppies, incriminating letters, literature, and publicity maternal besides weapons and have arrested at least five “respectable citizens” who were over ground TSI activists, More arrests are on the cards and security forces are keeping the revelations made by these arrested persons a closely guarded secret pending completion of the follow-up action.

Salaudin says barring the Hizbul Mujahideen and the Harkatul Ansar no other group was active in Kashmir last week.

His letter mentions about 31 boys (recruits) who are being sent to Pakistan for training. Salaudin pleads for special treatment to them. Giving further insight into the state of militancy in Kashmir. Salaudin appeals to the Pakistan authorities through his Pakistan based aide to stop favorable treatment of the (border) guides. He accused the guides of making the best of the situation. He recommends discontinuation of the practice of giving wireless sets to ‘guides’ and seeks strict enforcement of financial discipline among them, It may be recalled that Saludin’s powerful aide, Masjid Dar, has been operating from Pakistan ever since he allegedly clopped with a young gynecologist, a mother of three, hailing from Sopore. ‘The other recoveries from the residence of the Qazi include computer floppies which contained disinformation for the purpose of being disseminated among the Pakistan media and foreign countries for militants’ anti India campaign.

The security forces were led to the hideout by a Hizbul Mujahideen militant in Srinagar. He was found to be carrying six Kalashnikov rifles in a specially manufactured chamber in the hideout of a car. The Army authority’s extracted vital information from seizures made from him, which included some telephone numbers one of them being that of the Qazi. The said Jamaat e Islami leader, a lawyer by profession, ‘was also the publicity in charge of the Hizbul Mujahideen in the valiey, Senior Army authorities denied that the seizure was a part of a plan to swoop on the ‘over ground network of the militants, particularly the Jamaat e Islami, which is the parent political organization of the Hizbul Mujahideen. They claimed it was a chance of recovery.

The BSF has arrested a senior engineer, who was heading one of the hundreds of smaller ISI sponsored networks in Kashmir, which are entrusted with the jobs of organizing militants, spread in.
