RANCHI: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has decided to launch a fresh “decisive struggle” from October 7 next for the realisation of the Jharkhand statehood demand.
A decision to this effect was taken here on August 25 during the central committee meeting of the JMM, the party’s general secretary and Member of Parliament, Shailendra Mahato, said here in press release on Monday.
The meeting, chaired by the JMM chief, Shibu Soren, MP, also called for a “Jharkhand Bandh” on the same day and a weeklong “economic blockade” from October 8 if the center failed to place the report of the committee on Jharkhand matters (COJM) in the Parliament by September 7, the release added.
The JMM would launch its agitational programme from September 19 when rallies would be organised at block levels throughout the Jharkhand region. A mass tally would also ‘be held at Morabadi ground here on October 2 in favour of the tribal demands, the release said.
