AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS: Police on Oct.12 urged souvenir hunters to tum in pieces of the El Al jumbo jet that crashed into an apartment block, killing an estimated 67 people.
The appeal was made as crews stepped up efforts to bind remnants of the Boeing 747-200, especially the No.3 engine believed to have triggered the disaster when it caught fire after takeoff. They dug up soil around the crash site and scanned nearby lakes with sonar equipment.
