NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Vishwanath Pratap Singh’s Janata Dal party said the pattern of its post poll alliances in the states would be such as to deny the Congress (I) any chance to form governments.

“We will not allow the Congress (I) to come to power,” party spokesman Jaipal Reddy told reporters when asked if the Janata Dal would be willing to enter into coalitions in the states.

While refusing to specify the modalities of cooperation with other political parties in denying Congress (I) a chance to form governments, Reddy said it was for the parliamentary board to take decisions in the Post poll situation.

He, however, was categorical that the Janata Dal would have nothing to do with the Hindu fundamentalist Shiv Sena in Maharashtra.
