NEW DELHI: Devi Lal Sunday decided not to press his resignation as Deputy Prime Minister.
According to Chief Minister of Gujarat Chimanbai Patel, Devi Lal’s decision followed a letter written to him by VP Singh, acknowledging his services to the party.
“In the letter, VP told Devi Lal that he was the main architect in the formation of the Janata Dal and in the electoral victories in the Lok Sabha and assembly elections,” Patel said.
The prime minister was quoted as having written that the mandate of the people was “very clear that all of us work together.””
“All of us work together. If we fail, then the people will not €XCUSE US,””.
Patel said taking into account the totality of the situation, the prime minister has decided not to accept the resignation of Mr. Devi Lal from the Union Cabinet.
Patel said all issues raised by Devi Lal, including the one relating to the Meham bye election, will be sorted out in the party forum.
