MADRAS: The “ tween Chief Minister Ms. J. Jayalalitha and the Governor M. Channa Reddy entered an explosive phase, with the Chief Minister demanding that a new Governor be appointed for Tamil Nadu.
‘The Chief Minister, in a harshly ‘worded nine page statement, took serious objection to the remarks made by Mr. Reddy at a New Delhi press conference, and described them as “untrue, spiteful, and malicious and the language in which they are couched, churlish in the extreme.” Revealing the full extent of her differences with Dr. Reddy, Ms. Jayalalitha said, “now that matters shave reached such a state. I am left with no other option but to address the President and the Prime Minister of India and to press for the immediate recall of Dr. Channa Reddy and the appointment of a new Government for Tamil Nadu.”
Leveling a series of serious allegations against the Governor, the CM charged him with, “habitually Revealing state secrets and highly confidential matters to his political cronies, so that they may misuse ‘such information to derive political mileage against the Chief Minister and the ruling party:
