SPRINGSFIELD Missouri: S. Jasbir Singh Sandhu’s condition has taken a serious tum as he has lost 45 lbs. in weight on the 15th day of his hunger strike. He has been shifted from the Oxford Correction Center in Wisconsin to the Springfield hospital in Missourie. It may be recalled that Jasbir Singh resorted to hunger strike as he was not allowed to wear a turban in the dining commons and the visiting rooms of the jail.

It is learnt that the jail authorities have offered to give temporary permission but Jasbir Singh has refused to take food without first consulting the representatives of the Sikh community. W.S.O. National Council Members, Dr. Karamjit Singh Rai, and S. Surinder pal Singh Kalra are going along with other Sikhs to Springfield to stage protest demonstration before the hospital:

Sikhs all over North America are feeling very much concerned and telegrams are being sent to the jail authorities and other important functionaries like Mr. Charles Riggs, Chief Chairman, US. Bureau of Prisons.
