NEW DELHI: Dr. Subramaniam Swamy, MP, the Janata leader, today criticised the government for dragging its feet in fixing responsibility for the act of genocide that took place in Hashimpura.

In a press statement, he warned that if the government failed to catch the culprits in the Hashimpura genocide by October 2, Janata Party workers would launch “a fierce agitation to force the government to action.”

The statement said last year he had undertaken a fast unto death to demand a probe into the Hashimpura massacre carried out by the PAC.

On the sixth day, he had broken the fast on the written assurance of the home minister, Mr. Buta Singh of ordering a probe, which indeed took place subsequently under the auspices of the Gian Prakash Committee and central intelligence bureau. The two probes had confirmed his allegations.
