SRINAGAR: An official spokesman said that security forces while conducting search operations at Chak-e-Dangerpoga in Srinagar last week approached a”‘darasgah” (school) where suspects were hiding. He said the district chief or “badgam amir- e-zila” of the JamateIslami identified as Mohammed Islami Bhat hurled a grenade at the security forces to escape from the cordoned off area, The forces retaliated by opening fire, killing him on the spot.
The spokesman said one person ‘Was also injured in the shooting.
