Mann is really a man of principles. He was born to Sardarni Harnam Kaur and late Sadar Bhan Singh at Chauki mann, Punjab on December 5, 1939. His preparatory education was done at Jagraon; Khalsa College Sudhar and Arya College Ludhiana, where he completed his Bachelor of Science Degree with distinctions in Physics and Mathematics.
Avtar S. Mann came to the United States in 1963 as a Student for higher studies upon being encouraged and assisted by his late Uncle S. Labb Singh who was a 1929 Graduate of University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. Upon completing his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with honors in 1967, he returned back to India in March of 1969 to visit his family. While vacationing in India, he married Jagwinder belonging to a well-known family at Sidhwan Kalan.
Avtar migrated to United States in January 1970. Upon returning to United States, he completed his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1972, from University of Southern California.
Avtar is a registered Engineer in State of California and Maine. Presently, he is working for one of the largest Engineering and Construction Corporations in the world where he manages multimillion dollar projects. His responsibilities take him to Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan and Venezuela as a trouble shooter for his corporation.
Manns are living in Huntington Beach in Orange County. They are blessed with two children Amina K. Mann and Pavaninder S. Mann who graduated with honor from: High School this year. Pavaninder has been admitted to one of the leading Universities, University of
California at San Diego where he is scheduled to begin Biological Sciences Studies beginning this fall.
