Vancouver: On April 4 1992 I.S.Y.F (Canada) Sub-unit Vancouver held a conference on “the need for Khalistan at Khalsa Diwan Society in New West minister B.C. This program was also a positive step towards unity. Amongst those parties and special guests who participated were Punjab Human Rights Organization activist Bhai Barjinder Singh Khalsa I.S.Y.F Canadian National panel president Jagta r Singh Sandhu member of Canadian Panthak Committee member Bhai Satinderpal Singh spokesperson Dr Amarjit Singh Khalsa Editor of Chardi-Kala Punjabi Newspaper Bhai Sukhminder Singh Cheema representatives of Khalsa Diwan Society New Westminister and Khalsa Diwan Society as well as Dashmesh Punjabi School Abbotsford Guru Nanak Sikh Temple Surrey W.S.0 member Bhai Santa Singh Tatlay Students from U.B.C S.F.U and Douglass College also Participated enthusiastically in the panel discussions.
The main reason this function was held in English was to:
- Try and attempt to bring the English speaking closer to the Gurdwara well as the people in the mass movement for Khalistan.
- Educate our fellow brothers and sisters in the need for Khalistan.
- Give the younger generation a chance to have their questions answered
The program was started with the Sikh National Anthem “Deh Shivr Var” which was sung by the youth of the C.S.S & T.S.
The stage at this great gathering was handled by Ranjit Singh Dosanjh president I.S.Y.F Subunit Vancouver. Amongst the special guest speakers were first Bhai Santa Singh Tatlay who gave the religious aspect and drive for freedom Dr. Amarjit Singh Khalsa spokesperson for the Panthak Committee and Director of Khalistan Affairs Centre. In detail he explained the political aspirations of the Sikh Nation the betrayal of the Congress Party of India and what the Sikhs living in Canada could do to help to achieve our own Independent State.
Bhai Amrit Singh Rai on behalf of Guru Nanak Sikh Temple in Surrey spoke on the need to hold more functions like this to bring together our youth. He said they should get active in Gurdwara and start to learn about what’s happening in India. He also welcomed I.S.Y.F to hold the next conference in Surrey at Guru Nanak Sikh Temple.
Panel discussions were very interesting. The stage was almost instantly flooded with questions from eager students. Most questions were directed to Dr. Amarjit Singh who took the time to explain each question in detail Unfortunately due to a shortage of time all questions could not be answered In closing of the conference I.S.Y.F. gave a call to W.S.O Canada B.C chapter to come together for the struggle of Khalistan and to join the different level organizations working to liberate the Sikh Nation.
