DHAKA (PTI): Activists of an unidentified Islamic group have issued a ‘Fatwa’ calling for social boycott of households possessing books written by controversial writer Tasleema Nasrin, mass-circulation “Ittefaq” newspaper reported recently.

The call was given at a rally in the western Bangladeshi town of Bogura where speakers also demanded capital punishment for Taslima for her alleged demand for rewriting the Holy Quran. The rally was followed with a protest march.

The rally, urged the people not to have any sort of relation with households having books by Taslima, the Daily added in a dispatch from Bogura town.

The speakers also demanded a ban on Dainik Janakantha newspaper for its alleged distorted interpretation of a verse of the Holy a Quran.

The ‘Islamic Shasantantra Andolan’ (Islamic constitution movement) also reiterated their demand to hang Taslima for Blasphemy and banning all newspapers “supported” by Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).
