MARYLAND: On May 14 1994 GNFA conducted the Zonal Level International Sikh Youth symposium Seventeen youth between the age of 7-21 delivered speeches On a variety of subjects about Sikhism from books like High Roads of Sikh History by Teja Singh Sundni by Bhai VirSingh The Sikhs Their Religious Beliefs & Practices by W. Owen Cole and Piara S. Sambhi and Sikhism & Guru Granth Sahib By Surinder S. Kohli. The program which was conducted mostly by youth was participated by youth from the following centers: Sikh Foundation of Virginia: Tarleen Kaur Arjun Singh and Harmeet S.
Matta The Washington Sikh Center Kiran Preet K. Khosa Pradip Giri and Dalpreet S. Salugal Guru Gobind Singh Foundation Rajinderpal Singh Amrita K. Sodhi Harpreet K. Matta and Ajit Singh Sodhi; Sikh Gurdwara of North Carolina Simarnjit K. Singh Rayenak Rihal and Amrita Kaur and Gun Nanak Foundation of America Manpreet Singh Jogi K. Dhariwal Navreet K. Dhariwal and Priya darshan K. Tulsi.
The speeches were judged on a Strict criteria by a panel of judges Devinder K. Rana from N.J. Devinder K Rana from N.J. Baldev Singh from Pennsylvania and Inderjit Singh Rikhi from Maryland. The following first position Winners from each group will compete at the international level to be held in Nairobi Kenya where the first winners of all zones from United States United Kingdom Canada and Kenya will participate on July 25-30 1994. Group I-Manpreet Singh; Group II –Jog in jit K. Dhariwal Group III Harpreet K. Matta & Group IV Priya darshan K. Tulsi.
