LAFAYETTE,CA: Attorney Mohinder Singh made an oral motion to an Immigration Judge in San Francisco CA to excuse herself from hearing the case of Jasweer Singh, which was scheduled for a hearing at 8:30 a.m. and then moved to 1:00 p.m.

Attorney Mohinder Singh told the Court that this motion not be considered as personal. His motion is based upon his apprehension that he sees a pattern of prejudice and discrimination in denial of almost all Sikh political asylum cases, and the Court not being knowledgeable about the current Indian situation, including its cultural aspects.

He further told the court that the court may or may not be aware that he does not handle run of the mill Sikh asylum cases. He has so far won 21 Sikh political asylum cases in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seattle. This fact is not to construed that every Sikh asylum case he has handled should be granted, Each and every case should rest on its merit and upon the evidence proffered and presented to the Court. A denial of almost or all Sikh political cases handled by him and other local attorneys reflects a pattern prejudgment and prejudice, The fate of his client is hanging between life and death and all that depends upon this Court.

The Court in response said that it shall respond to the oral motion in writing and the matter was put over to May 21,1992 at 8:30 pat-
