NEW DELHI PTH): A Proposal is on to Set up a foundation to finance joint Indo US. Science projects with the aid of big Indus trial houses and philanthropic organizations in both the countries, reported here on Sept.16.
The foundation will fund the projects from 1997 when the existing U.S.India fund is expected to dry up completely.
The U.S.India fund, with a core money of 110 million rupees (3, 6 US dollars), was set up Six years ago. The Indian government had stipulated that all the money must be spent by February 1997.
“The Indian and American scientists very much want to continue the collaboration after 1997,” said Dr.Peter Heydemann, the outgoing science counselor at the U.S, Embassy here.
