“The Sub Divisional Magistrate’s inquest report on Kuldeep Singh’s death on May 29 barely 24 hours after he landed at IGI airport here from Germany. has set the Union Home Ministry and German authorities on # collision course.
Early this month, German Foreign Secretary had sought from the Indian Embassy in Bonn & report on the cause and circumstances leading to Kuldeep’s death. Singh had been deported to India by German authorities and he was arrested by the Airport police on the charge of travelling on forged documents. His parents held that the police demanded Rs 10,000 from them for their son and when they failed to collect the cash, he was killed in custody.
A simultaneous query was made at New Delhi by German Embassy to the Union Home Secretary and Ministry of External Affairs, seeking details about the incident and a confirmation if the youth had indeed been killed by the Delhi Police.
However, even before the dithering Indian authorities could place the facts before the Germans that SDM(Punjabi Bagh) Virendra Kumar came out with his inquest report, adding an altogether different dimension to the controversy.

The injuries, according to the doctors, were caused by either fiction against a hard surface or by a fall.
