New Delhi — The trial of three Sikh men accused of assassinating Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in October was postponed Friday to give one of the suspects time to choose a new attorney.
Sessions Judge Mahesh Chandra postponed the hearing until Monday to enable Balbir Singh to hire his own lawyer.
For the first time, reporters were to be allowed to cover the trial inside the high walled Tihar central jail of New Delhi, about 16 miles west of the city’s center.
