WASHINGTON: India’s population will top a billion in the next 20 years according to the population reference bureau a private foundation.
India’s population is projected at 859.192 million in 1991 1.158 billion in 2010 and 1.365 billion in 2025.
Old projections envisaged India overtaking China by that time and becoming the most populous country in the world. But it turns out that China’s birth control methods are not as effective as they were thought to be with the result that China will remain the most populous country even in 2025.
China’s 1.591 billion will compare with India’s 1.365 billion in 2025.
