NEW DELHI: These second launch of the indigenously built intermediate range ballistic missile “Agni” on May 29 was not “completely successful” due to a control structural interaction problem associated with extreme flight loads encountered during the flight the Defence Minister Sharad Pawar admitted in the Rajya Sabha.
Ina written answer he said the mission of the launch at a recent technology demonstration Agni was able to establish a highly maneuverable trajectory quite different from the first launch which was completely successful.
Inspite of the restrictions imposed by the United States on the export of missile components to India the government will endeavor to continue with the approved satellite program during the Eighth plan paired with minor adjustments Sharad Pawar said.
The government is examining proposals by shortlisted firms Aviation of Finance and British Aerospace for the purchase of an Advanced Jet Trainer aircraft for the Indian Air force Sharad Pawar said
The first light of the technology demonstrator Flight Combat Air craft is scheduled to take place in December 1996 subject to avail ability of adequate funds Pawar id.
