NEW DELHI: A blue print for reviving political process involving all national and secular parties has been prepared by the federal Indian government as part of its Strategy to restore peace in the trouble torn Kashmir valley, authoritative sources said.

The drive against militants will continue unabated but the center ‘wants political activities to be resumed at the same time, the sources said.

The situation in Kashmir valley was reviewed at the highest level when the cabinet committee on political affairs met here on Monday. It heard a firsthand assessment by home minister Mufti who had returned to the capital same day after spending four days in the state.

After the review a meeting was held of senior Kashmir leaders belonging to National Conference, Congress (I) and Janata Dal to draw up a strategy for reviving political activity. The state leaders had a series of meeting with the governor, Mr. Girish Saxena, who was also present. Later they met the home minister to take stock of the situation.

A second round was expected to take place after the return of Dr. Farooq Abdullah, who is currently in London and due to arrive here on June 18.

Dr. Abdullah had agreed to join hands with other secular parties to restore normalcy in the valley.

Federal government is hopeful that if senior leaders like Mir Qasim, Kar and Abdullah join hands they could tum the tide against the militants and provide leadership to the people of the state at this crucial juncture.
