LUCKNOW: Indian spinners have to prove their talent on foreign pitches and there is no room for complacency, says Ramakant Achrekar, the celebrated cricket coach.

Achrekar, who has coached Sachin Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli and Praveen Amre, said that the performance of Indian spinners in the recently concluded Test series against England and Zimbabwe was praiseworthy hut they have no reason to be complacent.

Achrekar, who was here to coach the Sahara India team which annexed the Sheesh Mahal title for the second successive time said the Indian pitches were usually prepared after rating the rival team. “Only if our spinners performed on foreign soil the way they did on the domestic pitches will they be accepted as spinners of international class,” he said.

When asked why Indian batsmen did not play as well against fast bowling as they did against spinners, Achrekar said, “it is mainly due to the lack of experience.”
