NEW DELHI: The establish ment of regular contacts between Indian and Chinese Military personal has been termed as a significant development by two newspaper the Hindustan times and the times of India.
The Hindustan Times says, establishment of such communicate links are important to con soldate the goodwill between the two countries generated out of the continued peace on the border and improvement of relations between the two countries.”
At the same time, it says no immediate solution is likely to be achieved from the joint working group (JWG) meetings, since the Issue of settling the border dispute is too complex.
1988 visit of Rajiv Gandhi and the end of the cold war have re moved certain irritants in the Sino Indian Relations and there is realization on both sides that the unresolved border question should not be allowed to impede the development of cooperation in the economic and other fields, it says.
It says both the countries are in the process of adjusting to the emerging world order and “the importance of the willingness of the two sides to maintain peace on the border cannot be underestimated at present.
