NEW DELHI: Prime Minister P.V.Narasimha Rao declared that no force on earth would be allowed to dissuade India from pursuing the path of development and preserving its security.
The Prime Minister was speaking at a commemorative function in connection with the golden jubilee of the Quit India movement at the historic Diwansam in the Red Fort here.
The Prime Minister dedicated to the nation the historic Salimgarh barracks in the Red Fort were the heroes of the Indian National Army (INA) Shahnawaz Jan, Gurbux Singh and Prem Kumar Sehgal were tried by the Btishers. A commemorative stamp brought out by the Department of Posts and a compilation of the 1942 Quit India resolution and the speeches of prominent leaders in 14 languages were released.
The Salimgarh barracks would be developed into a national measure in memory of the sacrifice of the Canada Base,
Describing the 1942 Quit India movement as a decisive phase of the country’s freedom to struggle and the day August 9 as a day of needing inspiration from the sacrifices of the freedom fighters.
Three militants, including one from the Babbar Khalsa, and two security personnel were killed in an encounter near village Jagga Ram Tirath in Bathinda district.
