NEW DELHE: Indian prime minister, who has several controversies chasing him, refrains from meeting the media persons. Unlike during Nehru’s time when he held press conferences once each month, the present incumbent shuns the media as plague. He has even stopped the old prime ministerial tradition of speaking to the Press on the eve of his departure for foreign lands. Most media persons wonder as to the reasons behind the prime minister’s thinking. He appears to be much too scared of explaining his government’s stand on several matters: Harshad Mehta and the securities Scandal, the Ayodhya developments, the Som Yajna and the question of banning the RSS etc.
