NEW DELHI: Indian warships and aircraft have increased surveillance and vigil on the high seas in view of growing possibility of out- break of a conflict in the gulf and a probable spillover in “our area”, vice chief of the Indian navy, H Johnson.

“There is a chance of the possible conflict getting spilled over our area,” the vice chief said here while addressing reporters in connection with the forthcoming naval week celebrations beginning on November 30.

The vice chief and other senior naval officers at the naval head- quarters here also dwelt on the growing possibility of the United Nations opting for a regional peace keeping force in the gulf and a possible Indian naval participation in it.
