NEW DELHI: Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao has ordered a “secrete probe into allegations that Youth Congress leader Sushil Sharma, the prime suspect in the murder of his wife Naina Sahni, used to take her to hobnob with “some Central minsters,” according to reliable sources in the Prime Minister’s Office. Inquiries reveal that the probe was ordered by the Prime Ministers soon ‘as the reports of “liaison between Naina Sahni and a couple of ministers” came to light. The Prime Minister, who is away in Andhra Pradesh, reportedly left strict instructions with his office that the report should be ready before his return from Hyderabad on July 10.
It is stated that the Prime Minister took a serious view of the allegations against some ministers and the fact that the reputation of the Youth Congress was being tarnished by the murder because of the alleged involvement of Sushil Sharma, former Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress president, According to reports with the PMO, Sharma was Hot only taking his wife but also Several other girls to meet ministers. Lest the Naina murder case should bring a setback to the Congress during the coming parliamentary elections, the government has already issued strict instructions for a thorough probe, The Intelligence Bureau and other agencies have already been alerted to help the Delhi Police in apprehending the culprits. While Sharma and his wife Naina were reportedly well-acquainted with the ministerial circles, they were reportedly “very close” to at least one Cabinet minister.
