NEW DELHI: India’s chief election commissioner T.N, Seshan announced the general election scheduled on Tuesday in consultation with the Indian government. A formal notification will be issued on March 27. Nominations could be made on April 3 to April 6 while the election to the Lok Sabha and six of the state assemblies will begin on April 27, these will continue on May 2 and May 4. In Jammu and Kashmir, the poll will be held on May 21. ‘The counting of votes will start on May 8 and will be over on May 9. The counting of votes in Kashmir will be done on May 23, the election process for the Lok Sabha and the six state Assemblies will be over by May 14.
