NEW DELHI: The Indian home ministry headed by S.B.Chavan has let out an important secret evidently to preempt Prime Minister Rao to make a scapegoat of Chavan in the context of destruction of Babri masjid at the hands of Hindu fundamentalists on Dec.6. The home ministry reportedly sent a detailed note to prime minister Rao’s office on Nov.27 suggesting dismissal of the B.J.P.-led state government of U.P. and a takeover of the disputed Babn masjid site by the central security forces The ministry was on the view that immediate nation on Nov.27 would result in fewer casualties and any delay would lead to complications The home ministry’s actual proposal was to raid the site at 9:30 pm on Nov.27 along with simultaneous dismissal of the state government. These proposals were formulated by the home ministry after S.B.Chavan held discussions on the Babni issue with his officers for four days beginning Nov.24. But the prime minister sat over the proposals until the kar sevaks of the fundamentalist organizations demolished the masjid.
