CHANDIGARH: The Center is sleeping over the Punjab Government’s communication sent two months ago recommending holding of the SGPC poll, creating doubts if the apex Sikh body would have a newly elected house in the near future,

The communication was sent to the Union Home Ministry which is 10 start the poll process, going by indications available here, the process will be fairly cumbersome and may take months. The Punjab election department, which con ducts the SGPC poll, has not yet decided on the procedure

The process includes the elimination of constituencies and preparation of electoral polls, the fresh delineation may add at least 10 Seats to the general house,

After receiving the concurrence of the neighboring States, the Union Home Ministry will appoint a chief commissioner for Gurdwara elections for conducting the poll under the Sikh Gurdwara Act of 1925.
