SRINAGAR(PTI): Four of the 10 army jawans accused of gang Taping a woman on the outskirts of Srinagar last week were identified and taken into custody by officials investigating the crime,
Two Jawans confessed of raping the victim while two others have admitted of having accompanied the other two, a defense ministry Spokesman told PTI here, ‘The four jawans belonging to a Territorial Army (TA) unit were identified during an identification parade held in the unit located in Zainakote to enable the victim and eyewitnesses to identify the per sons involved in the rape, the spokesman said. Nazma Jan, 35,a mother of four, alleged that 10 army jawans entered her house around 2300 hours (IST) and pang raped her after handcuffing her husband and tying him to a tree outside,
Nazma was taken to Lalded women’s hospital where doctors confirmed the rape.
A case was registered in Parimpora and an officer of the rank of Brigadier was deputed to carry out on the spot preliminary investigation into the incident on receipt of the news, the spokesman said.
