NEW DELHI: India and the United Kingdom will be soon conclude a formal agreement on tracing freezing and confiscating funds and proceeds of militants and criminal groups including proceeds from drug trafficking.
An external affairs ministry spokesman told reporters here on Jan 15 that four days of talks on the issue between senior officials of the two countries had concluded here recently. He said that in view of the urgency that both sides attached to the effective cooperation in these areas an agreement would be concluded soon. This will be the first time that Britain has negotiated a bilateral agreement on the financial sources of militant activities with any other country.
Officials from ministries of external affairs home and finance attended the talks the spokesman added.
