New Delhi(PTI): India has taken up with the US administration the question of recall notice issued by the US consumer product safety commission on” Indian made Rayon-and Rayon Cotton blended skirts, the Rajya’ Sabha (upper house of Indian’ Parliament) was told recently Minister of state for external affairs Salman Khurshid said he had already talked.
To the U.S, Ambassador here on the commission’s recall notice and expressed India’s concern over it. However, the minister said that US consumer product safety commission’s notice related to safety of a specific product and should not affect the overall Indo-US economic and trade relations.
The safety commission had halted the sale and recalled more than a quarter of million Indian made rayon and rayon cotton blend skirts on the plea that these skirts are highly inflammable and a fire hazard Though no such case has so for been reported, the commission said, it did not want to wait till a tragedy occurred.
