NEW DELHI: What should be done to safeguard a movement for real peace in Afghanistan? Countries like India America Pakistan and Saudi Arabia should work in unison according to Afghan Human Freedom Trust Chairman said Mohammed Olumi.
Delivering the keynote address at the seminar on “Peace Initiatives in Afghanistan” Olumi said that the leaders of these four countries should use their political weight so as to create opportunities for the self-determination of the Afghan people.
He said that though the prospects were dim there were some positive factors which if employed correctly could prevent the disintegration of Afghanistan. The best solution he felt would have if all the Jehad parties including their leaders could form a shifted front and set up a Government of national unity.
Glumi said even the UN secretary-general was aware that there was a growing disenchantment with the present phase of the United Nations peace process.
Therefore what was needed is a new context for discussion and negotiation among Afghans and a full implementation of the principle of democratization
Besides harmonization of the: actions of different Afghan groups was the imperative need in view of the situation developing in Kabul and the rest of Afghanistan headed.
