NEW DELHI: India ruled out the possibility of a foreign secretary level meeting this month as suggested by Pakistan to defuse tension on the Kashmir issue.

An external affair ministry spokesman said, “Unfortunately” the Pakistani response to India’s seven point peace package was hedged with certain reservations which ‘was somewhat discouraging.

The spokesman however, said the Pakistani response was receiving “our serious consideration.”

The seven point proposals, handed over to Pakistan high commission in New Delhi last week, include, exchange of information on military exercises, joint border patrolling, and reiteration of commitment to abide by the Shimla agreement.

The body of Damodar Swaroop, the father of private secretary to former chief minister Farog Abdullah was recovered from Anantnag district Thursday. Damodar was kidnaped by the militants few days ago and police had launched a hunt to trace him.

A two year old child, Saqib Bashir who was injured in a cross firing incident at Safakadal area in downtown Srinagar succumbed to his injuries late Thursday night.
