NEW DELHI: India today drew the attention of the United States to the provocative statements made by chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Amanullah Khan, on American soil.
An external affairs ministry spokesman at a press briefing said US charge D Affaires Grand Smith was summoned to the foreign office by Nareshwar Da yal, joint secretary and informed of India’s feelings.
Referring to Khan’s statement on Monday at a press conference at U.N. Headquarters the spokesman said, “We have drawn the attention of the US government to the fact that Amanullah Khan has made his statement on American soil.”
Mr. Khan on Monday had said that vice chancellor of Kashmir University Mushir Ul Haq, HMT General Manager HL Kehar, who were kidnapped by Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front militants from Srinagar and two others had been executed. Asked whether they had been killed under his orders, he said he only gave guidelines; the final decision was of the local commanders.
