NEW DELHI: India Thursday called on the International community to oppose the latest move by the Fijian authorities to legalese an abhorrent racist system against ethnic Indians through a new constitution, PTI reports.

An external affairs ministry spokesman said that the draft constitution contained provisions that were not only undemocratic and racially discriminatory but also detrimental to the attainment of racial harmony in Fiji.

This confirmed India’s apprehensions that the Fijian authorities had ordered the closure of its mission in Suva because of their intention to impose racially discriminatory and totally unacceptable constitutional arrangements on the people of Fiji, the spokesman said.
