NEW DELHI (PTI): India has offered to export multipurpose nuclear research reactors and heavy water to other countries under international safeguards. Dr.R. Chidambaram, chairman of the Indian Atomic Energy Commission (AEC), announced India’s willingness to export nuclear technology at the 37th general conference of the international atomic energy agency in Vienna on Sepies.

Signed a 5/10 mw multipurpose research reactor suitable for advanced physics, materials research, and radioisotope production.
He said India is also willing to offer a small 30 kw experimental reactor fuelled entirely by U233 in the form of uranium al uminium alloy forneutron activation analysis and other experiments,
“The success of the indigenous heavy water production program has made it possible to offer heavy water for export under lAEA safeguards,” he said.
Dr.Chidambaram, formerly director of the Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC), said India is willing to share expertise in human resource development with other members of IAEA.
He said India has already trained a large number of personnel from other countries sponsored by the IAEA and Indian experts have conducted training programs at several places outside India.
