BAHRAIN (PTI): India Feb, 18 offered to make available its defence capabilities to the Gulf States for defending their territorial integrity.
Indian minister of state for defence Mallikarajun, told newsmen at the International Defence Exhibition, which ended in Abu Dhabi Thursday, that India was ready to supply defence equipment’s to friendly Gulf countries on a selective basis.
Mallikarajun said the target of Indian defence exports for this year had been fixed at over 40 million dollars against 30 million dollars last year.
More than 300 companies manufacturing arms and other defence related equipment from 34 countries displayed their products at the five-day exhibition.
India’s display included missiles, artillery, and the T72 tanks, Referring to India’s participation at the exhibition, Mallikarajun said though it had been somewhat modest, it had opened up possibilities of friendly countries utilizing the proven capabilities of the Indian defence industry for reinforcing their defence preparedness.
He said delegations from various countries were likely to visit India in due course to finalize deals.
