NEW DELHI (PTI): President Shanker Dayal Sharma said the total Kharif (summer crop) food grains production in the country was estimated to be 100 million tons and the prospects of Rabi (winter crop) are also good with the production expected to be around 76 to 77 million tons. In the current year, the Monsoon rains have been good excepting in parts of Bihar in northern India and in parts of a few other states. Kharif oilseeds production has been higher by about 16 hundred thousand tons and the Sugar production was 133 hundred c tons in the ending of October, 1992 making India the world’s largest Sugar producer.
