BOMBAY: The Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) is chalking out short and long term training programmes for senior and junior players so that strong front line and second line teams for international competitions could be prepared.

Meanwhile the IHF is concentrating on the preparation of the Indian team for the seven nation BMW International Tournament to be held in Holland from June 1 6 to 24. Probable will undergo intensive training and coaching for one month before the final selection of the team on June 1 he added.

According to another report the IHF efforts to get the services of foreign coaches to train the team for the Beijing Asian Games have not yielded any positive results.

The IHF contacted West German national coach Klaus Kleiter and Dutch coach Joritsma for this assignment.

According to IHF sources Kleitr has expressed his willingness to come to India only after the seven national BMW tournament to be held in Amsterlyeen (Holland) in June.

Kleiter has also indicated that it will not be possible for him to be the chief coach of the Indian hockey team as he continues to be the national coach of the West German team.

The sources said it would be too late for Kleiter to come in July as the Beijing Asiad starts in September.

Joritsma the Dutch national coach seems to be having second thoughts. Joritsma whose contract with the Royal Dutch Hockey Association ended on April 30 wants to have direct negotiations with the IHF, to settle the terms and conditions.

The Spanish Hockey Federation has also sought his services to train their national team for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

The IHF will have to take a quick decision about the foreign coach if it wants any, because the time is very short, the sources added.
